I guess I always find "about me"s difficult to write because I either sound like I belong on myspace or someone who tries too hard to be profound. I'll start with the basics: My name's Ramelcy, and I'm from a little place you might have heard of known as New York City. I consider myself a Feminist and have an opinion on just about anything and everything. My tumblr is my own and no one else's so I'll post whatever quotes, rants, pictures, and random bullshit that I want. I guess it provides a bit of insight to who I am or at least I think I am? Don't hesitate to say hello. Follow and enjoy or not ?

Can You Tell The Difference Between A Men’s Magazine And A Rapist?

Well, this is upsetting. According to a new study, people can’t tell the difference between quotes from British “lad mags” and interviews with convicted rapists. And given the choice, men are actually more likely to agree with the rapists.

There is a fundamental concern that the content of such magazines normalises the treatment of women as sexual objects. We are not killjoys or prudes who think that there should be no sexual information and media for young people. But are teenage boys and young men best prepared for fulfilling love and sex when they normalise views about women that are disturbingly close to those mirrored in the language of sexual offenders?”

So Maybe Someone Can Explain This Shit to Me

Okay, so most guys can go outside in just shorts and fucking shoes. They can be shirtless, pantless, saggin’, in their underwear, and probably naked for the most part, and no one says a thing.

A girl goes out in a short skirt or shorts or even a low-cut shirt, and she’s asking for attention. Please. What. The. Fuck. Is. Up. With. That. I really do understand that some people dress for the attention of the public, but even then no one has the right to comment on what they wear.

Can someone enlighten me why as soon as a female shows even the slightest bit of skin she’s a ho, piece of meat, or a simple sexual object? She’s suddenly asking to be approached, hollered at, or even harassed. I’m so tired of this sexist shit. I should be able to wear whatever the fuck I want without anyone telling me I’m just asking for attention or even bad things to happen to me.

Like really the way I dress is just an expression of who I am, and no one should feel the need to comment or act because of what I AM WEARING. You only need to worry about my clothes if they’re on your body and until then, it doesn’t fucking concern you. DASSIT.

At TEDWomen, Tony Porter makes a call to men everywhere.

It is definitely worth the watch and is an important video to see. It brings to light the rape culture that is such a big unnecessary aspect of American culture, and also, what Tony Porter defines as the “man box.”

I think to redefine the meaning of “manhood” or a “real man”, we must really call upon men, but also women and ourselves to let go of these stereotypical ideas of what a man should be…
