I guess I always find "about me"s difficult to write because I either sound like I belong on myspace or someone who tries too hard to be profound. I'll start with the basics: My name's Ramelcy, and I'm from a little place you might have heard of known as New York City. I consider myself a Feminist and have an opinion on just about anything and everything. My tumblr is my own and no one else's so I'll post whatever quotes, rants, pictures, and random bullshit that I want. I guess it provides a bit of insight to who I am or at least I think I am? Don't hesitate to say hello. Follow and enjoy or not ?

“Shit Men Say to Men Who Say Shit to Women on the Street” was inspired by International Anti-Street Harassment Week.
It was created by a group of women and men in NYC who believe that street harassment is wrong, and that we all have a role to play in ending it - especially us guys.
The video shows non-violent some ways that men can interrupt street harassment as it happens. (And it happens all the time. Seriously. Go check. We will wait.)
Join us by sharing this video. And the next time you witness street harassment - and you will - say some shit. Please.

The Purity Myth Documentary [trailer]
“the virginity movement” — an unholy alliance of evangelical Christians, right-wing politicians, and conservative policy intellectuals who have been exploiting irrational fears about women’s sexuality to roll back women’s rights. From dad-and-daughter “purity balls,” taxpayer-funded abstinence-only curricula, and political attacks on Planned Parenthood, to recent attempts by legislators to de-fund women’s reproductive health care and narrow the legal definition of rape, Valenti identifies a single, unifying assumption: the myth that the worth of a woman depends on what she does — or does not do — sexually. In the end, Valenti argues that the health and well-being of women are too important to be left to ideologues bent on vilifying feminism and undermining women’s autonomy.

“There is a fundamental concern that the content of such magazines normalises the treatment of women as sexual objects. We are not killjoys or prudes who think that there should be no sexual information and media for young people. But are teenage boys and young men best prepared for fulfilling love and sex when they normalise views about women that are disturbingly close to those mirrored in the language of sexual offenders?”
All the reasons any woman should need to be a feminist and any man an ally…

Let us never forget my favorite moment in Nicki Minaj history.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard such truer words from Nicki Minaj.
