I guess I always find "about me"s difficult to write because I either sound like I belong on myspace or someone who tries too hard to be profound. I'll start with the basics: My name's Ramelcy, and I'm from a little place you might have heard of known as New York City. I consider myself a Feminist and have an opinion on just about anything and everything. My tumblr is my own and no one else's so I'll post whatever quotes, rants, pictures, and random bullshit that I want. I guess it provides a bit of insight to who I am or at least I think I am? Don't hesitate to say hello. Follow and enjoy or not ?

Sista-2-Sista.

Well, yesterday I attended Gye Nyame’s annual Sista 2 Sista Summit at St. Francis College in Brooklyn. This was my second year going, and it definitely did not disappoint.

I really got a lot out of last year’s summit because I think I spent most of time listening and absorbing the actual experience, while this year, I opened myself up much more and let what was being said touch me deeper. The workshops were about forgiveness, aliveness, and “getting fly” because presentation is power.

I honestly do believe in forgiving, but never forgetting, and I often forgive people so they can shutup, get out of my face, and so we can move on. I learned forgiveness is not for anyone but yourself. It is not to show weakness or vulnerability. It is a means of growth, peace of mind, and self-empowerment. I shared shit I never even realized I felt, but corniness aside, it felt so good. I feel like my spirit and heart are so much more healthier and lighter now that I’ve let go and forgiven.

I also realized, I’ve been gone from the big G-O-D for a little too long and need to open myself to God’s influence in my life. I just feel so empowered, happy, and refreshed after yesterday. Also it doesn’t hurt that Susan L. Taylor (editor-in-chief of Essence) was a guest speaker and there were great performers including Chrisette Michele, Rhyme like a girl, and Queen Godis.

The big unveiling of the “Most Treasured” Bulletin Board to show all the members of our administration they are appreciated. (they also enjoyed a casual friday :} )

Even though we have a crazy bunch working at my school, I do appreciate all they have done for SJB.

I’m no photographer, but the view from the Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom LLP law firm on Times Square is pretty amazing if you ask me.

I Like to Read Between The Lines

Friend: So have you spoken to him today?

Me: Yeah, he texted me to go to that party. He wants me to go so it's obvious he wants me.

My sister: Really? How...

Me: Well he basically told me he loves me and wants to cuff me. He called me wifey material, girrrl.

Friend: OMGGGG

My sister: Did he really? lmao

Me: Well not exactly, he said he likes the way I dance, and I'm cute. He called me "his dancer" ya know. That's like code to be his wife, babygirl, girlfriend!

My sister: ......WHAT?

Me: Girrrrl you got to read between the lines nowadays. lmao. We're soulmates. He just doesn't know it yet yo.

Pie :)

My Sister: So you going to Aliana’s house? Why?

Me: Well I’m going to go take her some of the pie. She likes sweet potato pie.

My Sister: Wtf? Pie?

Me: Ima take her pie! Bitches love pie!

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away. Now it looks as though they’re here to stay. Oh, I believe in yesterday. Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play. Now I need a place to hide away. Oh, I believe in yesterday.
